GNEMSDC Trade Expo and Conference is Coming!
The GNEMSDC Business Opportunity Expo and Conference is coming.  This year the event will take place on Tuesday, September 30 and Wednesday, October 1 at the Mohegan Sun Casino and resort.  Please mark your calendar.  It is time for MBEs and corporate members to start preparing for the event.  One of the biggest attractions is the very successful One-on-One sessions.  These allow corporate members to schedule 15 minute appointments with specific MBEs for specific commodity/service opportunities.  This year we will once again employ some great technology that will allow us to efficiently make these matches between corporate members and MBEs.  We encourage all of our corporate members to participate in the Expo and the One-on-One program.  This year we have some very important editions to the program.  Stay tuned.  (Photo is of CT Governor Dannel Malloy with Dr. Fred at last year's Expo.)

 And Finally...
To all of the fathers out there, I hope you had a great Father's Day.  I realize that I did not wish all of the mothers out there, a Happy Mother's Day last month, so I apologize.  But everyone knows that Mother's Day is a far superior day in the pantheon of holidays than Father's Day, and rightfully so.  You don't have to be a physician to know that mothers sacrifice significantly more of their bodies, minds and souls in children that make both of these holidays relevant. But that being said, Father's Day is that one day a year that fathers are allowed to simply do what they want to do (within reason) guilt free.  That means we can watch the entire game, or for that matter every game in the World Cup played today.  We don't have to cut the grass, paint the scratched up door, change the oil, go shopping for bathroom towels that are not to be used -ever, or obey every command issued by the woman in our lives who Warren Bacon of our MBDA Boston Business Center calls, "she who must be obeyed".  Today we might be able to get away with speaking "truth to power" without ruthlessly being made to feel like a caveman.  Today we can exercise that inner selfishness and immaturity that we so gallantly subordinate to the greater good of our homes, our community, the nation and the world.  Fathers, what noble beings we are 364 days a year. So today is that one day that we can relish a day-off, a respite from the massive responsibilities required of this humble station in life, that no one truly understands but other fathers.  Happy Father's Day! I wish it were a week.  I think we deserve it: Don't you?

 In your service

Dr. Fred
