Thank You!!!

golfThank you to Sponsors, Golfers, and Volunteers!!

What a great day we had on Friday. The weather was as they say: Sweet!. There were two full courses of golfers from our corporate membership and our certified MBEs having a great time getting to know the best of each other. The forty plus pink-shirted volunteers covered the course so that everyone had what they needed when they needed it.

The scores were low (58 and 64 were the winning scores). Nobody won the Mercedes E Class, but there is always next year. And on top of this we raised over $4,000.00 for MBE scholarships in our raffles. This will come in very handy as we continue to pursue the goal that every certified MBE in our great Council will have had Executive Training.

Thank you all for sharing your time and your resources with us. It will be hard to match this year's event.

She also continues to market Blackside's other documentaries, including The Great Depression and I'll Make Me a World. These projects reflect Ms. Hampton's lifelong commitment to promoting equal rights and diversity.

Prior to turning her focus to training and coaching, Ms. Hampton ran a successful public relations agency with government, corporate, and nonprofit clients. GNEMSDC Business Opportunity Expo Date Changed! - New Dates October 3 through October 5

2010 Expo sign

The GNEMSDC Expo that was originally planned and advertised for September 26 to September 28 has been changed to Monday October 3 through October 5 at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods.

The reason for the change was a number of conflicts on the originally scheduled dates between our show and the Federal Government's Minority Enterprise Development Week program in Washington, DC from September 27 through September 30. Many of our corporate members and certified MBEs attend MED Week either because the Federal Government is often their largest customer and this is the premier Federal government event focusing on supplier diversity.

The MED Week event is also an event that the GNEMSDC may have a role in this year. So for these reasons, we have moved the dates. I apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused. We look forward to seeing you at perhaps both programs now instead of neither.

And Finally...

Fred in ohio

I recently joined a men's book club and one of the first books on the list that we will soon discuss is titled "On Bull___" by Harry Frankfurt. Dr. Frankfurt is not some commoner when it comes to important topics. Dr. Frankfurt is a retired professor of philosophy from Princeton University. So now that I have established his legitimacy as a thinker with gravitas, I can discuss the details of this small bite sized book of 81 pages. Understanding the difference between BS and everything else is an important executive ability. Imagine an executive who could not distinguish between BS and the truth. That executive would not be an executive for long. So what is BS? This important book makes the distinction between lies, hot air, humbug, hocum, bluffing, balderdash, and other related concepts including sincerity, which can be the highest form of the art of BS. The book describes the etiological relationship between BS and the business concept of Bull Sessions, where a team comes together to discuss various aspects of a policy, product or problem. There is also mention of the connection between political speak, public relation messages, advertising and marketing in general. I could imagine that some might ironically read this book with the intent of becoming a more effective BS artist, but my interest is purely academic. Do you believe me, or was that BS?

In your service,

Dr. Fred
