One on One Meetings - Who is Looking for What?

The One on One meetings will feature the following companies looking for the following items. Our plan is to schedule as many meetings between corporate members and MBEs as possible based on the stated demands of corporate members. The Wednesday program at the GNEMSDC Business Opportunity Expo and Conference should be renamed "Marketing Wednesday". Immediately after the MBE Input Committee meeting, the luncheon will feature a presentation by Hector Bauza of Bauza and Associates, a nationally recognized expert on marketing to Hispanic consumers. Serving as commentators on Mr. Bauza remarks will be Tony Rodriguez of Daniel Penn Associates and Linda Newton, Vice President of Community Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. The information and discussion will be of great value to MBEs and corporate members.

Immediately following this luncheon we will continue the marketing focus by looking at how corporate members and MBEs can accomplish their marketing goals by utilizing the minority media. We have an excellent panel of MBEs and corporate members including Cox Radio, El Mundo, Inner City News, and Diversity Plus. The media representatives will talk about how their clients use their services to successfully reach minority consumers and decision makers. The buyers of minority media will talk about the business case for using the minority media to accomplish their goals. This session (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM) should also be an informative and useful session for corporate members and MBEs. Corporate members, might want to invite the people responsible for advertising to this session to learn about the important role the minority media plays in achieving their marketing goals.

Following this Marketing Session, there will be a welcoming reception that will take place in the Registration area. Bring plenty of business cards.

  • And Finally,
  • Fred in ohio

Many of you know that I am a Los Angeles Laker fan. Now you have to understand this was a natural development that was the result of my time in Los Angeles and the long line of UCLA Bruin basketball players (Kareem Abul Jabar, Gail Goodrich, Walt Hazard, Jamaal Wilkes, Jordan Farmar, Matt Barnes, etc) who traded their UCLA blues for Laker gold. So while I was walking into a meeting with the Boston Celtics last week in an attempt to get them to join the GNEMSDC, I stepped off the curb in front of their offices across the street from the Boston Garden directly into a pot hole and broke the fifth metatarsal in my left foot. I blame Red Auerbach, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, The Chief, Danny Ainge, Dennis Johnson and BIll Russell for my mishap. I can now confirm that no Laker fan should come within 1,000 yards of the Boston Garden. Never again will I set foot within this distance of this jinxed plot of Celtic green. I would love the Celtics to join the GNEMSDC and if there are Celtic fans out there, I would appreciate it if one of you would follow up with them and encourage their participation with the GNEMSDC, because I will not go back for fear of further damage to my mind, body and soul. So if you see me at the Expo on crutches or a cane you know who to blame.

    In your service

    Dr. Fred
