The late great James Brown sang proudly, "I don't want nobody to give me nothin, open up the door and I'll get it myself". Besides the funky back beat and Maceo and the band making music that make your feat and head move involuntarily, the message of this song is a powerful reminder of what also makes a successful MBE. Opportunity is defined a set of advantageous circumstances that make possible the accomplishment of a purpose. The GNEMSDC is powerless, I am powerless to make a global corporation buy anything from anyone. What we can do, however, is to provide MBEs with opportunities. We can get corporations in the words of James Brown to "open up the door". That is the first half of the equation. The second half of the equation, is that you, the MBE have be competitive, high quality and confident, or continuing the James Brown theme, you have got to be "super bad". And if you are super bad, then you can "get it yourself". So participate in the activities of the GNEMSDC. These are door openers that allow you to be successful. Now let me get back to my JB!
