And Finally...
|
There are some major changes that the NMSDC is putting in place that will impact all certified MBEs, all local and national corporate members and all regional affiliates. In some areas of the country dramatic changes have already started to be witnessed. The changes are the result of strategic planning process that started at the NMSDC Leadership Conference that was hosted by the GNEMSDC in Boston in July 2011. The target to implement many aspects of the changes is January 1, 2014, six weeks away. These changes are the most significant, wide-ranging changes since the founding of the organization forty years ago.
In addition to proposed changes in fees and prices, the plan addresses six major areas:
1) Board Engagement;
2) Business Processes;
3) Network Governance;
4) Performance Management;
5) Targeted Services; and
6) Technology Modernization.
I encourage all of our MBEs and corporate members to visit the website that outlines the plan, strategicplan2012.nmsdc.org. The GNEMSDC board will make this plan and our 2014 budget the number one and two issues at our upcoming board meeting on December 5. All regional Affiliate Councils, including the GNEMSDC are being asked to sign onto the new plan by December 15. I encourage our certified MBEs and corporate members to review the plan. I am happy to listen to your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. These are if nothing else, exciting times!
