MBE News |
Woodview Construction Services, LLC (WCS) has just signed a collaborative agreement with Waste to Energy Partners. With this agreement in place, WCS has enhanced its abilities to provide industry leading wood waste management and disposal services to all of Greater New England and its immediate surroundings. Our scalable wood waste acceptance, reduction and diversion capacities have grown to approximately 200 ton per day in this region and can be ramped up to over 400 ton per day in short order. Our newly formed collaboration broadens our market reach to better service wood waste producers of all forms by diverting commonly land filled wood waste into multiple rebirthing streams. The process of which I speak, takes otherwise discarded wood waste materials and converts them into reusable resources. Of most importance is that our service offering will remain competitive, comprehensive and dependable and will vastly increase this regions ability efficiently yet conscientiously discard of storm related, commercially generated and industrial produced forms of both treated and untreated wood waste. Specifically, the rebirthing processes employed by this collaboration would be of great interest to firms who generate large volumes of these materials and wish to achieve LEED credits by implementing environmentally conscious discard processes. Further, our offering provides a unique avenue by which to foster favorable GREEN initiatives and increase MBE/DBE spend in historically underutilized capacities. For more information about our enhanced service offering, feel free to give us a call. In closing, please be sure to share this information with those in your professional circles you feel would have interest in securing our services. |

MBE Day at the Capitol - February 29 |
The GNEMSDC along with some other interested groups are organizing an MBE Day at the Capitol in Hartford of February 29, 2012. The purpose of the day is to share a legislative agenda with elected members of the Connecticut General Assembly. There are five items that the GNEMSDC has put forward and continues to view as positive changes in CT law that would promote not only MBE interests, but the economic interests of the State.
- Conduct a New Disparity Study to base a revision of the State of CT's MBE Goals;
- A separation of goals for WBEs as distinct from MBEs in the State's Set-Aside Goals;
- The elimination of the Municipal Exemption which exempts some State funded projects from the State's set-aside programs;
- The State's acceptance of the GNEMSDC certification as proof of MBE status; and
- The establishment of a Diverse Business Task Force that reports on progress with the achievement of minority and women business development goals.
We will be sending out more information in coming days about how you can assist in this effort. |
